Variability, Heritability and Genetic Advance of Introduced Upland Rice Genotypes at Fogera in North Western Ethiopia

Variability, heritability and genetic advance are basic in order to provide information for plant breeding programs. Forty nine upland rice genotypes were tested 7*7 simple lattice design at Fogera Wereta station of Adet Agricultural Research Center 2012/13. The objectives the study estimate variability, tested. Analysis variance revealed that there was highly significant difference among 49 all characters studied. This generally indicated variability or divergence genotypes. Thus, improvement program through direct selection rather than lengthy crossing recommended.
